The thoughts, questions, and desires around building your family often live quietly in the background, making them difficult to name or explain, even to the people closest to you.
Between the ongoing appointments, emotional highs and lows, and medical interactions that can feel confusing or overwhelming, fertility challenges often extend far beyond the physical implications.
It impacts relationships, identity, and how supported you feel in your everyday life.
What Loss, Fertility, and Life Transitions Sounds Like
And How We Work With You…
“I don’t have children, but I’m grieving the loss of becoming a mother the way I imagined. It feels strange to miss something that never fully existed.”
1
We welcome you in our therapy room! Your grief is labeled and seen throughout your therapy sessions. Your therapist is trained to help you label the complex emotions you are feeling and walk through conflicting thinking patterns with you.
“People tell me to focus on the children I already have, and I do, but that doesn’t make the loss of our other child disappear. It just makes me quieter about it.”
2
Our clinicians are extensively trained in a therapy called Acceptance and Commitment therapy. Meaning, you will be taught skills and tools to move through the yuck of loss without trying so hard to avoid it, isolate, or distract yourself.
“We’re growing our family through adoption, but it often feels like the people around us don’t fully recognize our children as truly ours.”
3
Your journey into and through motherhood is so beautiful and exciting to us! We can’t wait to hear all about your precious children. We specialize in walking step by step with you. Our goal is to build your confidence and enhance your quality of life throughout this huge transition.
“We’re grateful to have children through fertility treatment, and at the same time we’re unsure how to make sense of the embryos we may not use. It’s a decision that feels both practical and deeply emotional.”
4
This is a hard one for sure that we have seen and hear about in our therapy room. You value and honor the concept of life and its important to you to do the right thing with the situation you are in. We are so glad you are considering working with us as you explore all the feelings and thoughts towards the various options you have in this journey.
