September is Suicide Prevention Month: You Don’t Have to Go Through This Alone
Written by Erin M Randol, MSW, LCSW
September is Suicide Prevention Month. This month is about reminding people that mental health struggles are real, they’re heavy, and no one should have to carry them by themselves.
Suicidal thoughts often come from feeling hopeless, stuck, or like you’re a burden to others. If you’ve ever felt this way, please know: you are not alone, and help is available.
What You Can Do
Talk about it. Starting a conversation can take away some of the shame and silence.
Check on loved ones. Sometimes asking “how are you really doing?” opens the door for someone to share their pain.
Reach out for support. Professional help can give you tools and hope, even when it feels impossible to see a way forward.
