Emotions, Feelings, and Therapy

Erin had a fun day out of the office recently! Emotions, feelings and therapy were explored with a class of Kindergarten students.

Come with Erin to talk with a kindergarten class about emotions, feelings, and therapy!

First, clips from the movie Inside Out were shared with the class to practice naming and labeling different types of emotions.

Labeling the emotions helped us understand the idea of ‘safe people’ and how safe people can be beneficial when feeling big feelings.

Next, a therapy client, “Mr. Dino” arrived for his therapy session and everyone helped Erin provide a therapy session to Mr. Dino. We used active listening skills, practice problem solving with empathy, and talked with Mr. Dino about what is means to be mindful.

The day ended with a treat of Skittles for their hard work as mini-therapists for the day!

Erin is known for being straightforward, real, and actually helpful. No vague advice, just blunt and honest intervention.

Her work blends EMDR, IFS, ACT and she’s especially known for helping women move through trauma, burnout, ADHD-related overwhelm, anxiety, and the identity shift that comes with motherhood. Over the years, Sunrise Therapy Services has become a trusted space for moms and women who want therapy that feels grounded, practical, and actually effective especially when life feels loud, messy, or out of control.
